Description

Continually prioritizing mastery of techniques and exceptional craftmanship, Christofle announces a special collaboration with artist Junichi Hakose, one of the most acclaimed Japanese lacquer and special craft “Makie” artists. Master Hakose has reimagined the Christofle iconic MOOD giving rise to seven exceptional designs, each in limited editions. The delicacy and attention to detail is exquisite and makes each piece truly one of a kind. This work depicts the Yoshino cherry blossom that cover Mt. Yoshino in Nara, a famous cherry blossom spot representative of Japan. The cherry trees on Mt. Yoshino have been worshiped as sacred trees for more than 1,300 years. In the spring, about 30,000 trees—mainly ancient Japanese wild cherry trees—bloom to create a truly magnificent sight. This piece also conveys the spatial aesthetic characteristic of Japan, and the arrangement and color scheme give it a dynamic feeling, as if the blossoms were fluttering down because of the spaces. The flowers don’t have the same color scheme as a single object, with pink shading, different amounts of sprinkled gold and silver powder, the pink flower petals seem to float on the back lacquer. The brightly colored blossoms are drawn in contrast to the red at the bottom, presenting a varied range of expression of cherry blossoms in a single work. The cutlery has gold and silver cherry blossoms on vermillion to purposely give it a relaxed expression. Limited edition (maximum of 8 pieces). Numbered as "1 of 8". Chest in stainless steel & silver-plated flatware decorated with: Lacquer, Gold 24 carat, Silver, Pigment component  10 months needed to create this exceptional piece
