Designed to accompany life’s most precious moments and be treasured for generations, Christofle pieces will preserve their brilliance over time with a few simple care rituals and the right products.
Christofle offers a range of easy-to-use care products specially formulated for silver-plated and sterling silver pieces,
helping to remove tarnish and restore their original brilliance.
After applying a product that requires rinsing, rinse each piece thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft, clean cloth.
Immerse your silver-plated or sterling silver cutlery or jewellery in the solution for 3 to 4 minutes to remove any traces of tarnish.
After immersion, rinse with lukewarm water, then wash with dish soap to remove any remaining care product. Rinse again and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Repeat if necessary.
Do not immerse knife blades or the steel components of your jewellery.
Impregnated with a solution specially formulated for silverware, the gloves and polishing cloth allow you to polish your pieces and restore their brilliance without rinsing.
The silversmith’s gloves make polishing easy while keeping your hands clean, while the polishing cloth allows for precise and gentle care.
Regular use of your pieces helps preserve their brilliance over time.
The care lotion’s fluid texture makes it ideal for intricate shapes and decorative details. Apply with a soft cloth, leave for a few moments, then polish. Pieces intended for contact with food should be thoroughly rinsed and washed once polished.
The richer texture of the care cream is particularly suited to smooth surfaces and pieces that can be rinsed with water. It can also be used on silver-plated pieces showing signs of wear.
Apply with a soft, slightly damp sponge and rub gently, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
Christofle cutlery, whether silver-plated, sterling silver or stainless steel, is designed for everyday use.
A few simple care steps are all it takes to preserve its brilliance over time.
All Christofle cutlery is dishwasher-safe, with the exception of pieces from the Talisman collection. Before using your silverware for the first time, we recommend washing it by hand. Until it can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher, soak used cutlery in water with bleach-free dish soap. This simple step makes cleaning easier.
Wash your cutlery with a soft sponge and soapy water.
Avoid detergents containing chlorine or citric acid, as well as abrasive products or cleaning tools that may scratch or damage the surface.
After washing, dry each piece thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent water marks and preserve its brilliance over time.
Christofle cutlery can be safely cleaned in the dishwasher.
A few simple precautions will help preserve its brilliance over time.
Use dishwasher powder or chlorine-free tablets.
Avoid liquid, gel, scented or acidic detergents.
Place knives in the cutlery basket with the blades pointing downwards
to prevent the steel blades from coming into contact with silver surfaces.
Wash and dry at a maximum temperature of 65°C / 149°F.
At the end of the cycle, open the dishwasher door to release
the steam and help prevent condensation marks.
Dry the cutlery with a soft cloth.
GOOD TO KNOW:
To preserve the brilliance of your cutlery, do not wash it in the dishwasher at the same time as crystal glassware.
Regular use of your cutlery helps reduce tarnishing on sterling silver and silver-plated pieces.
Knives made before 1968 must be washed by hand, as their blades may be damaged by high dishwasher temperatures.
Over time, silverware naturally develops a patina that reflects the history of each piece. This fine protective layer helps preserve the metal while lending it a distinctive and authentic character.
With regular use, light marks gradually blend into the patina, revealing the singular beauty of pieces designed to be cherished and passed down through generations.
Highly acidic foods, such as lemon or tomato juice, may cause silver to tarnish more quickly when left in contact with cutlery for extended periods.
Although often recommended as a natural cleaning solution, white vinegar should not be used to clean sterling silver or silver-plated cutlery, as its acidity may damage the surface.
Chopsticks are dishwasher-safe, with the exception of the Jardin d’Éden chopsticks made in ebony wood.
For quick cleaning, use Flash Argent only on silver-plated sections, avoiding any wooden or resin parts. Only MOOD and Infini chopsticks made entirely of silver-plated metal may be fully immersed in the solution. To restore their brilliance, apply the care cream to the silver-plated sections using a soft cloth, then rinse thoroughly.
Gently hand wash with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Wipe dry immediately after washing and allow to dry thoroughly. Do not wash in the dishwasher. To maintain the beauty of the wood, occasionally apply a small amount of food grade vegetable oil and gently wipe with a soft cotton cloth.
For light cleaning of the silver plated parts, Flash Argent may be used, taking care to avoid contact with the wooden and resin parts. To restore their original shine, apply Silver Care Cream with a soft cloth, then rinse thoroughly with water.
During care, you may notice some color transferring onto the cloth. This is a natural phenomenon caused by tannins, the naturally occurring pigments found in wood. With repeated care, the color of the chopsticks may also become slightly lighter over time. These subtle changes are part of the unique character and natural evolution of the material.
For the regular care of your stainless steel cases, gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth.
To preserve their finish, do not use Christofle care products, abrasive sponges or abrasive cleaners.
To protect your cutlery and preserve its brilliance, Christofle offers three storage solutions: flatware chests, cases, and storage modules.
Choose the format best suited to your collection to keep each piece carefully protected over time.
Designed to hold cutlery and serving pieces, chests and cases feature an anti-tarnish fabric lining helping protect each piece from oxidation. Available in several sizes, they suit a variety of storage needs.
Essentiel, Concorde and Concorde Variations stainless steel cases protect and organise your cutlery. Designed as decorative objects, they blend naturally into any interior.
Lined with anti-tarnish fabric and equipped with removable holders, the storage modules keep your cutlery protected and neatly organised. They are included in Christofle chests and boxes and can also be purchased separately. Available in several sizes for different types of cutlery, they fit easily inside your drawers.
Enjoy your Christofle porcelain every day.
A few simple care steps are all it takes to preserve its beauty and brilliance over time.
Only porcelain collections without gold or platinum details are suitable for the dishwasher and microwave. To protect the delicate gold or platinum decoration of the Malmaison, Malmaison Impériale and Albi collections, gentle hand washing is recommended.
For dishwasher-safe pieces, choose a low-temperature eco cycle and use powder detergent.
To preserve the brilliance of crystal, gentle hand washing followed by drying with a soft cloth is recommended. It may also be washed in the dishwasher using a delicate cycle at a maximum temperature of 40°C, without detergent, to maintain its clarity.
Silver-plated trays, bowls, and table accessories are dishwasher-safe. For larger pieces, such as centrepieces and water pitchers, or smaller items, such as knife rests and coasters, hand washing followed by immediate drying is recommended.
To restore their brilliance, use the Christofle polishing cloth or apply the care cream with a soft sponge. For pieces combining silver-plated metal and glass, such as caviar sets or butter dishes, wash the silver-plated section by hand and place the glass insert in the dishwasher.
To care for your silver-plated picture frames and keep your most treasured memories shining,
use Christofle care products while avoiding any wooden sections.
The care lotion cleans and restores their brilliance,
while the silversmith’s gloves or polishing cloth revive their shine without rinsing.
For stainless steel frames and wooden sections,
simply use a soft, slightly damp cloth.
To care for your silver-plated candelabras, gently remove any wax residue by running the affected areas under hot water.
Then use the Christofle polishing cloth for regular care and the care cream to restore and preserve their brilliance.
To care for your glass and stainless steel candle holders and votives, gently remove any wax residue by running the affected areas under hot water. Then clean each surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

To preserve the beauty of your Christmas ornament, gently polish it with a Christofle polishing cloth. If the metal begins to tarnish, apply a small amount of Christofle care cream with a soft cloth, then polish gently to restore its brilliance.
After use, store your ornament in its original box to protect it from scratches and tarnishing.

When worn, your jewellery naturally develops a patina. To preserve the beauty and brilliance of your Christofle sterling silver jewellery,
we recommend storing each piece in its anti-tarnish pouch or box when not in use.
Treated with silver salts, these protective cases help prevent oxidation.
We also recommend avoiding contact with seawater and chlorinated pool water.
For jewellery with links, textured surfaces or intricate details, use Flash Argent. Its dipping solution cleans hard-to-reach areas and restores their brilliance. Immerse only the silver sections, taking care to keep all stainless steel clasps and components out of the solution.
