THE ORIGINS OF VALENTINE'S DAY

Valentine's Day falls every year on February 14th. Why is this date traditionally considered as the lovers' day?
Several versions exist but the most commonly accepted one dates back to the Middle Ages and is linked to the priest Valentinus. While the Roman Emperor Claudius II had forbidden marriages, to encourage soldiers to go to war in greater numbers, Valentinus continued to marry lovers in secret. Years after his passing, he was finally canonized as St. Valentine, the patron saint of love.

It was the English who were the first to exchange "valentines" or Valentine's Day cards from the 14th century onwards.

The tradition that still persists today and has gradually become associated with gifts as an expression of love and appreciation.
In the United States, it is customary to gift loved ones with jewelry, flowers and chocolates. As time progresses, more, unique gifting  ideas emerge to drive the same message:
to please and celebrate those we love!
