Silver and sterling silver spoons reflects traditions in modern times. A symbol of elegance and refinement, these exceptional pieces combine craftsmanship and design to create an unrivalled culinary experience.
In this guide, discover the different types of spoon and their uses.
A coffee spoon is a small kitchen utensil that fits into a coffee cup. It can also be used to measure and serve quantities of ingredients, particularly coffee, and to enjoy desserts.
The standard measurement of a coffee spoon can vary up to 5 millilitres. It is often used to measure out sugar, salt or other ingredients when preparing recipes.
The main difference between a coffee spoon and a teaspoon is the capacity of one another. The teaspoon is generally smaller, with a standard capacity of 2.5 to 3.5 millilitres, while the coffee spoon can hold up to 5 millilitres.
The equivalent of a teaspoon is often used to measure out more delicate ingredients, such as spices or tea.
The soup spoon is a larger kitchen utensil, designed to hold larger quantities of ingredients. The soup spoon has a deeper bowl and a longer handle than the coffee spoon.
The standard capacity of a soup spoon is 15 millilitres. It is often used to measure liquid or bulk ingredients, such as oil, flour or sugar.
The caviar spoon, often made of mother-of-pearl, is often preferred for serving caviar because of its smooth surface, which does not alter the delicate flavour of the caviar.
Eating caviar with the hands, sometimes directly on the skin between the thumb and forefinger, is considered a way of maximising the culinary experience, allowing the texture and flavour of the caviar to be better appreciated.
Ideal for serving small dishes, a table spoon is a larger piece of cutlery used for eating veloutés or soups. It is larger than the soup spoon and is designed for general table use.
Now you can set your table in the best possible way and show your guests when and why to use their spoons.
