CHRISTOFLE AND SPORTS
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY...
THE CHRISTOFLE TROPHIES
In 1860, Christofle created trophies, mainly for agricultural competitions. The Maison often worked on these pieces in collaboration with famous artists such as Albert Carrier-Belleuse.
The Rearing horse was one of the trophies regularly produced for various events over the years.

Collection
Sport Cup, Silverware Fileté - Vintage
This threaded sport cup was created by Christofle around 1940. Its sober shape is enhanced by the series of horizontal lines engraved on the body and foot. The inside of the bowl is frosted, providing an aesthetic contrast with the shiny surface of the outside.

Until the 1900s, Christofle produced different types of trophies: animal sculptures (decorative elements for vases or cups), scenes evoking the competition (motorboats between mercury of victory and the orient), or antique themes (victory motifs, palms, putti, antiquisite decorative elements).
The shapes are similar to those of agricultural trophies, but the iconography is adapted to the competition. The animal, a recurring theme in equestrian trophies (but not exclusively, as it is also seen in automobile trophies), is depicted in the round with antiquisite figures of victory, parles or divinities.

CHRISTOFLE AND TENNIS
This year, in 2024, Christofle has partnered for the first time with France's most prestigious tennis tournament Roland-Garros
The Maison reinterprets one of its iconic collections, celebrating the alliance between French Art de Vivre and the distinct atmosphere of the hexagonal tennis temple.
