These two magnificent coasters were produced by Christofle from 1973. On their surface are fine engravings reproducing the inscription plates of the fermiers généraux.During the reign of Louis XIV, Colbert, Comptroller General of Finances, decided to better control the production of gold and silverware. To do this, he created the fermiers généraux, a group of people responsible for checking objects and affixing different hallmarks depending on the town and the year. These are the hallmarks found on these coasters.
