Continually prioritizing mastery of techniques and exceptional craftmanship, Christofle announces a special collaboration with artist Junichi Hakose, one of the most acclaimed Japanese lacquer and special craft “Makie” artists. Master Hakose has reimagined the Christofle iconic MOOD giving rise to seven exceptional designs, each in limited editions. The delicacy and attention to detail is exquisite and makes each piece truly one of a kind. The dragon, one of the four auspicious beasts from ancient China, which includes the qilin, tortoise, dragon, and phoenix, is an imaginary lucky flying creature that was revered as having auspicious powers including the ability to drive away evil spirits and prevent disasters. It is also a symbol of authority. This work depicts two dragons going in opposite directions. One appears to climbing up, while the other one ventures downward. Hakose wanted to create dragons as guardian gods, providing protection from all directions. The highlights of this work are the eyes and expressions, which convey a sense of movement and life. The dragon’s expression changes from strong to kind depending on the lighting, due to the placement of the blue-green shell in the eyes. Bright gold powder is sprinkled on and polished lacquer todepict the paths of the golden dragons. In addition, the cutlery features fine-patterned designs that are suited to the dragons such as the seven treasures.   This is a unique, limited-edition piece that will not be reproduced. Numbered as "3 of 6". The chest in stainless steel & silver-plated flatware decorated with lacquer, 24K gold, silver (with palladium), seashell (Turbo marmoratus), and pigment component. This piece took 10 months to complete.
