Continually prioritizing mastery of techniques and exceptional craftmanship, Christofle announces a special collaboration with artist Junichi Hakose, one of the most acclaimed Japanese lacquer and special craft “Makie” artists. Master Hakose has reimagined the Christofle iconic MOOD giving rise to seven exceptional designs, each in limited editions. The delicacy and attention to detail is exquisite and makes each piece truly one of a kind. The phoenix symbolizes love. It is an mystical lucky bird that was revered as one of the four auspicious beasts from ancient China, which included the qilin, tortoise, and dragon. It is said that the phoenix will appear when a virtuous emperor arises. The phoenix is said to live in a sacred tree known as the paulownia tree. The case depicts three phoenixes, and the cutlery is adorned with  dignified paulownia trees. The phoenixes are seen dancing amongst a deep, jet black sky. Shells are scattered below the phoenixes to reflect the natural beauty of the light like stars. The beautiful light that spills from the wings of the phoenixes is expressed three-dimensionally by scatting and dragon polishing. The wings are made from gold, silver, and palladium colored shadows to depict the phoenixes in a divine and dignified manner. This is a unique, limited-edition piece that will not be reproduced. Numbered as "5 of 6" The chest in stainless steel & silver-plated flatware decorated with lacquer, 24K gold, silver (with palladium), seashell (Turbo marmoratus), and pigment component. This piece took 10 months to complete.
