Description
On their surface are fine engravings reproducing the Fermiers Généraux' insculpation plates.
During the reign of Louis XIV, Colbert, General Controller of Finances, decided to better control the production of gold and silverware. To this end, he created the Fermiers Généraux, a group of people responsible for checking objects and stamping them with different hallmarks according to city and year. These are the hallmarks found on these coasters, which can be used as a guide to decoding and identifying.
Christofle Vintage Collection pieces are second hand pieces selected and authenticated by Christofle. They are pieces in good condition and restored in our workshops in Yainville (Normandy)... More information
