The Lumière d'Argent collection comprises nearly 36 pieces created by Christofle between 1987 and 1994 at its factory in Saint-Denis. The various animals, made of silver-plated metal, are embellished with onyx eyes. These pieces were created in the Christofle workshops using a very special technique: one part was cast, while other elements were first worked and detailed on a plate like a pattern, then shaped to fit together and create the chosen animal. This technique explains the variety of poses and the increased precision of the details. The different finishes of the slightly incised surfaces are reminiscent of Christofle's early jewelry, which used a metal weaving technique similar to filigree, for which he filed a patent in 1837.
Christofle Vintage Collection pieces are second hand pieces selected and authenticated by Christofle. They are pieces in good condition and restored in our workshops in Yainville (Normandy)... More information
