Wine glasses play an essential role in the tasting experience. In this guide, Christofle invites you to discover the refined world of wine glasses and find out more about their placement at the table, their use, their shape and their type.
Wine glasses come in a wide range of shapes and sizes to suit every grape variety. You'll find glasses designed specifically for red wine, white wine and champagne, and even multi-purpose models that sometimes vary according to the type of red or white wine.
Each piece is meticulously crafted to bring out the aromas and flavours of each wine.
As you will have noticed, wine glasses do not have a classic shape. Although they don't all have the same container shape, a wine glass is traditionally made up of: a stem, which leads back to the bowl of the glass where the wine will be poured, and an opening, the rim of the glass, which is at the top and varies according to the type of wine. The shape of the wine glass influences the tasting experience by concentrating the aromas and directing the wine towards specific areas of the palate.
Whether tasting with friends or enjoying a meal with your family, our wine glasses are designed to ensure an optimal tasting experience, revealing the full complexity of fine wines.
The wine glasses are specifically adapted to each type of wine, to bring out the different flavours, while the water glasses, whatever their shape, are designed to offer a refreshing tasting experience.
White wine glasses feature a narrower, slimmer bowl to concentrate and preserve the freshness and subtle aromas of white wines. To avoid heating the wine with the heat of your hands, white wine glasses are also designed with a longer stem.
Christofle offers a wide range of white wine glasses, each more stylish than the last, for a delicate and refined tasting experience.
The capacity of a red wine glass generally varies between 400 and 600 ml. Perfectly sized, our red wine glasses will ensure optimum tasting of your wines while highlighting the unique characteristics of each vintage.
This will make all the difference to your guests!
The arrangement of wine glasses depends on the serving table. Traditionally, they are arranged from left to right in the following order: red wine, white wine, and finally the water glass. Of course, the arrangement can vary according to personal preferences and the style of entertaining. Paired with Christofle tableware and silver-plated pieces, the table becomes effortlessly refined.
