This elegant bread basket was designed by Christofle for the Gallia collection and appeared in the catalog from around 1915 to the early 1930s. The piece reinterprets the Louis XVI style with its ribbon-like band delicately encircling the basket and the floral motifs that adorn the base.

Having become famous, Maison Christofle was solicited by foreign sovereigns such as Emperor Maximilian of Mexico, the Tsar of Russia, Germany of the Kaiser, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Sultan Abdulaziz of the Ottoman Empire.
