This cup with pearls and Greek handles was produced by Christofle around 1858 for Duke Charles de Morny. The motto of this financier and politician appears on the coat of arms decorating the body of the cup: “Pro Patria et Imperatore,” meaning “For the Homeland and the Emperor.”
Christofle Vintage Collection pieces are second hand pieces selected and authenticated by Christofle. They are pieces in good condition and restored in our workshops in Yainville (Normandy)...

Having become famous, Maison Christofle was solicited by foreign sovereigns such as Emperor Maximilian of Mexico, the Tsar of Russia, Germany of the Kaiser, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Sultan Abdulaziz of the Ottoman Empire.
