With Carrousel, Charlotte Chesnais reimagines cutlery: functional, but above all timeless. Designed like a piece of jewelry, each item lives in rhythm with those who use it. The collection is the perfect alignment of two identities in metalsmithing: jewelry and tableware. Aesthetic, conceptual, sculptural and a work of art, the Carrousel case perfectly embodies both universe of Charlotte Chesnais and Christofle.
This exceptional case, a standalone object defined by a bi-colour surface, is like a door to a secret room. The interior reveals a walnut tableau that holds the full set stored upright along an ingenious system of pegs, inspired by the planar forms of Jean Arp. Beyond its artistic strength and technical prowess, the drop – the openwork part – of the cutlery becomes functional, allowing it to find its place within the case like a piece of kinetic sculpture.
The opening creates a cinematic effect, akin to a rotating carousel and as precise as a clockwork mechanism. The object transcends its function: it displays, protects, and elevates.
