Created in 1920 by Auguste Delaherche for Christofle, this elegant long-necked vase is part of the Maison’s historic Dinanderie collection.
A gilded composition of floral and geometric motifs contrasts beautifully with the vase’s deep brown patina, revealing the exceptional metalworking techniques behind its creation. Dinanderie pieces were crafted from copper or brass, shaped on a spinning lathe or through electroplating before being meticulously decorated. The design was protected with varnish, etched with acid, and enriched with silver or gold through electroplating. Once the varnish was removed, the metal was carefully patinated using salts or chemical treatments, creating the distinctive tones and depth characteristic of oxidized copper alloys.
Part of the Christofle Vintage Collection, this authenticated pre-owned piece has been carefully selected for its quality and heritage. Each vintage piece is restored in Christofle’s workshops in Yainville, Normandy, preserving its unique character while honoring the craftsmanship and savoir-faire of the Maison.

Having become famous, Maison Christofle was solicited by foreign sovereigns such as Emperor Maximilian of Mexico, the Tsar of Russia, Germany of the Kaiser, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Sultan Abdulaziz of the Ottoman Empire.
