A feat of craftmanship with every element designed to be unique, The Chess Set by Christofle pays tribute to two iconic Christofle collections: Courge and Printania, which beautifully juxtapose Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles in this Duel des Thés.

It brings together the French excellence of the silversmith and the know-how of the cabinetmaker in a delicate combination of sterling silver with precious wood.
Both a play and decorative piece, it needed over 550 hours to make. The 32 sterling silver pieces and pawns have all been handcrafted by the Master Silvermiths of Christofle Haute Orfèvrerie atelier.
 
Here, teapots, creamers, sugar bowls and cups replace the traditional kings and queens, bishops, knights, rooks and pawns! The kings and queens wear a vermeil crown. These pieces feature exceptional finishes: the lids open, the spouts are functional and the base of the pieces is covered with a felt pad to make them easy to move on the game board. The board is made of precious pin oak. It is inlaid with 32 solid silver tiles and surrounded by a silver belt. It is hand-crafted by Christofle's Master Silversmiths and a renowned French cabinetmaking and marquetry atelier.

As with all our Haute Orfèvrerie pieces, the Chess Set is numbered and signed on the silver board frame, which gives it its unique character. 

The Chess Set comes in a black wooden case, custom-made in France. Fully covered with anti-tarnish fabric, it can be used to store or transport this exceptional piece. Limited edition of 8 pieces.
