This bread basket was sold in Christofle's Gallia catalogs from 1905 under the name "Epi de blé" (ear of wheat). This name and floral aesthetic are typical of the Art Nouveau style that was flourishing at the time. This artistic movement found its inspiration in nature. Art Nouveau offered stylized nature in rounded forms, with sinuous lines and floral motifs that sometimes abounded.
