This sugar bowl belongs to the tea service featuring knot-shaped handles, claw feet, and a guilloché base. This intricate pattern is a variation of the Liseron collection, one of the earliest designs created by Christofle in the 19th century. Although the model appears only in the 1898 catalogue, these pieces were produced circa 1889–1893.

Christofle buys the patents for silver plating and gilding by electrolysis which gave birth to silver metal in France. He becomes a goldsmith.
