Paris and the world

Parisian silversmith, it is from French capital that Christofle startshines all over the world.

Born in Paris, Christofle has long had its main manufacturing location in the city's heart; its flagship store, the Pavilion de Hanovre, is situated on the well-known grand boulevards. Until the nineteenth century, Christofle shops were referred to as Pavillons due to their renown.  This is the case of the Rue Royale store, which opened in 1897 and took over the Italian Boulevard after World War II.

Christofle not only influenced the landscape of the French capital by decorating iconic monuments such as the Garnier Opera and the Comique Opéra, but also the Parisian way of life.

Official life - Palais de l'Elysée, ministries, and the City Hall - as well as Grand Hotels and restaurants in Paris also partnered with Christofle.

Silversmisth is open to world, foreign inspirations and designers: orientalism and japanisme in the nineteenth century, for example, Italian design in the 1960s, or even the biggest names in contemporary international design, such as Marcel Wanders.

His reputation quickly spread beyond the hexagonal borders, thanks in large part to International Exhibitions.

Christofle consistently participates in it and is rewarded every time.

These expositions attract a sizable audience: in 1873, the Japanese ambassador purchases vases in Vienna and in 1891 in Moscow, the imperial family visits and purchases. In 1893, Christofle is the only French silversmith to participate in the Colombian Fair in Chicago.

Christofle opens shops and succursales all around the world quite quickly.

The first ambassadors of the orfèvre in Paris and around the world were his customers who, from the beginning, loved and shared Christofle.
