Originally part of a collection of twelve pieces, these knife rests depict six animals arranged in pairs: a peacock and a dove, a swan and a pelican, a dog and a cat.
With their elongated, angular silhouettes, the figures evoke each animal and its distinctive posture through a refined economy of detail and a strikingly pared-back aesthetic.
