During the reign of Louis XIV, Colbert, Comptroller General of Finances, decided to improve control over the production of gold and silver items. To this end, he created the "Fermiers Généraux", a group of people responsible for checking objects and stamping them with different hallmarks depending on the city and year. It is these hallmarks that can be found on this trivet, which can be used as a guide to decipher the inscriptions on the silverware and identify them!
