Gravy Boat Filet Coquilles, Silverware - Vintage

A double gravy boat on a tray, this is the Vendôme model, an iconic collection from Christofle characterized by an outline of fillets featuring a shell. While this motif, which of course recalls Santiago de Compostela, is a great classic of ornamentation in the decorative arts, this model, which puts the shell back in the spotlight, was created by the Parisian silversmith in 1950. It was sold until the 1970s. This post-war model was a great success with the baby-boom generation, and featured prominently on many wedding lists.
