The case, all in sterling silver, is supported by Byzantine chains that end in graceful tassels made of Venetian chains. Worn as a necklace, its length is adjustable by a sliding element. The Christofle company has created a collection of jewelry based on this particular motif. They are created on a byzantine chain, also called royal mesh or Peruvian mesh, "Birdcage" or "Dilemma of the Fool" depending on the continent and the time. This flexible chain consists of a geometric tangle of rings strung together in a precise and complex pattern.
